Obama’s Poll Numbers Continue to Crash

Posted by Steve Markowitz on December 29, 2013

On December 25 CNN released its latest presidential poll showing that Obama’s support continues to drop.  A major cause is the dismal failure of Obamacare’s implementation.  In the CNN poll 62% indicate that they oppose the Affordable Care Act (ACA) a.k.a. Obamacare, with only 35% supporting it.

Digging into the CNN poll numbers further indicates even more serious problems for the President and the Democrat Party.  One major constituent behind the Obama political phenomena has been women.  Even this group has now turned on the President with 60% of women surveyed oppose Obamacare and only 35% in favor of it.

In addition, 63% of the total surveyed believed healthcare cost will increase under Obamacare with only 7% expecting costs to decrease.  Given that the President and his political allies had the gall to call the program the Affordable Care Act, it is no wonder that the People are fed up with this President and do not trust him.

While both political parties have historically pandered to constituents for votes, the Democrat Party and its radical Leftist wing have in recent decades fractured America into evermore subgroups that are supposedly disadvantaged.  It then promises to correct the newly formed class’s societal caused problems with magical governmental bullets and at supposedly no-cost.

Obama Poll

Well, there is no free lunch and the artificially created subgroups are starting to learn this reality.  Unfortunately, putting the genie back in the bottle is never easy and the damage done to society by the Left’s dangerous fracturing tactic will be painful to repair.

Alcohol Consumption – Men and Women are Different

Posted by Steve Markowitz on June 30, 2013

couple cocktailsAuthor Gabrielle Glaser was recently interviewed by the Wall Street Journal’s Gary Rosen concerning the growing problem of alcohol abuse amongst women.  The article titled Why She Drinks: Women and Alcohol Abuse indicates that alcohol abuse is increasing amongst women significantly faster than men, stating the following:

  • “Women buy the lion’s share of the nearly 800 million gallons of wine sold in the U.S. annually—and they are its primary drinkers.”
  • “Between 1998 and 2007, the number of women arrested for drunken driving rose 30%, while male arrests dropped more than 7%.
  • “Between 1999 and 2008, the number of young women who showed up in emergency rooms for being dangerously intoxicated rose by 52%.  The rate for young men, though higher, rose just 9%.”

The above statistics indicate that alcohol abuse is a growing problem for women and at a disproportional rate than that of the abuse by men.  In addition to the problems this causes society, Glaser points out that the effects of alcohol overindulgence is disproportionately more dangerous for women stating:

  • “Women are more vulnerable than men to alcohol’s toxic effects.  Their bodies have more fat, which retains alcohol, and less water, which dilutes it, so women drinking the same amount as men their size and weight become intoxicated more quickly.”
  • “Males also have more of the enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase, which breaks down alcohol before it enters the bloodstream.  This may be one reason why alcohol-related liver and brain damage appear more quickly in heavy-drinking women than men.”
  • “Studies show that after drinking, men report feeling more powerful, often overstating their capabilities and accomplishments, while women say that it makes them feel more affectionate, sexy and feminine.”

The sexist realities of alcohol raise interesting issues for a society that increasingly looks to government to regulate bad behavior.  For instance, should the level of blood-alcohol used to determine one’s ability to drive the vehicle be different for men and women?  Should warnings be placed on alcoholic beverages that its use is more dangerous for women than men?  Should the government start an advertising campaign discussing the special problems alcohol causes women?

The libertarian bent of this Blog would answer “no” to each of these questions.  However, given the slippery slope of the big brother government that we are traveling, this is a likely outcome. This possibility should serve as a warning for activist women of the Left.

Leftists Attack Dr. Ben Carson

Posted by Steve Markowitz on April 2, 2013

The fascist side of Leftists continues showing its teeth through political correctness and outright squelching of speech that involves opposing opinions.  The most vicious attack from the Left against free speech is specifically targeted to two groups; women and African-Americans.  Both of these segments of the American society are significant supporters of Progressive agendas.  Therefore, the Left especially fears dissent from within either group as it could erode their base of power.

Dr. Ben Carson, a world-renowned surgeon and philanthropist, is now on the receiving end of Leftist vitriol.  Not surprisingly, since obtaining national stature for stating his traditional views, Carson is on the receiving end of attacks from the Left and especially from its members within the African-American community.  Typical of these attacks, he has been accused of being an Uncle Tom for daring suggest opposing solutions for Progressive government and its encroachment on society.  These attacks not only are grossly unfair to Dr. Carson, but also allow the Left to avoid discussion on the logic of Carson’s positions.

Earlier this week a discussion/debate was held on Fox News’ “Hannity” demonstrating the vitriol and illogic of the Left’s position on dissent from African-Americans.  Representing a conservative position from an African-American was Niger Innis, national spokesperson for the Congress of Racial Equality.  Justifying attacks on the Left was African-American attorney Leo Terrell with a video clip posted below.  The outrageous position expressed by Terrel says should scare anyone who believes in free speech and free thought.

Bill Maher Cracks Another Racist Joke

Posted by Steve Markowitz on February 24, 2013

Newsbusters.org published a distasteful story about the rather despicable Bill Maher.  One of Maher’s Tweets this week put conservative African-American Herman Cain in his verbal crosshairs when he said: “Man, #HermanCain is making a comeback – says he likes working with Fox team, particularly some of them fine-ass white women they got there“.

Maher inappropriate comments show that he is just another Leftist who believes his political persuasion gives him a pass on racism.  As Newsbusters concluded concerning the probable response from Maher’s employer, HBO: “…because it’s about a black conservative man, he’ll probably get a raise”.  These Leftists no longer keep their racism in the closet.

Joe Biden Tells Women to Buy a Shotgun

Posted by Steve Markowitz on February 22, 2013

VP Joe Biden is at it again.  This time he was confronted in an interview with a question submitted from a woman who offered concerns about the gun restrictions being proposed that will affect her future ability to protect herself.

Instead of admitting that the Obama administration has little concern for Americans self-defense needs, the VP stuttered and stammered before actually addressing the question.  Biden came up with the following sage advice for women:

“  get a double barrel shotgun.”

“….just walk out on the balcony …  put that double barrel shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house.  I promise you who’s ever coming in is not going, … you don’t need an AR 15.  It’s harder to aim, it’s harder to use and in fact you don’t need 30 rounds to protect yourself.

“Buy a shotgun.”

This gibberish shows that the Vice President is either ignorant or believes those listening to him are.  First, he suggests that the woman by a double barrel shotgun for protection and then shoot two shots to scare off the intruder.  That leaves her defenseless and with an unloaded gun.  What is she supposed to do if the intruder continues entering the house?  Throw the shotgun at the perpetrator?

Then Biden proffers the view that the AR 15, a so-called assault rifle, is harder to aim and use for women.  If this is actually the case, why is the Obama Administration singling out this weapon for removal from private citizens?  Logic would dictate that if this gun was a more difficult to use it would not be the weapon of choice for crazy people.  However, logic was never Biden’s strong suit.

Newt Gingrich and Carly Fiorina on Meet the Press

Posted by Steve Markowitz on September 3, 2012

Sunday’s Meet the Press included an interesting debate pitting Republicans Newt Gingrich, former Speaker the House, and Carly Fiorina, former CEO of HP, against the liberal mainstream media.  In the video clip below Gingrich correctly indicates that the abortion plank included in the Democratic platform is far more radical than the Republican plank, compared to mainstream Americans’ view on the issue.  In addition, Gingrich pointed to the double standard the press and Washington politicians used towards Todd Akins inexcusable comment on rate, versus VP Biden’s inexcusable comment that Republicans if elected would put blacks back in shackles.

The most significant points in the debate were made by Fiorina who correctly states that women are not a special interest group and in fact are a majority of the population.  They are not single issue voters, but are concerned with the many significant issues the Country faces.  The position the Democratic Party attempts to proffer otherwise, should be demeaning to any woman.

Left Attacks Allen West

Posted by Steve Markowitz on August 10, 2012

Posted below is an advertisement used by a Leftists super pac to attack Republican Congressman Allen West from Florida.  It includes typical Leftist rhetoric with the false narrative that conservatives are against the elderly, women, and minorities.  A review of recent history tells a different tale.

All of the three subcategories created by liberals are faring worse today than the day Barack Obama was elected president.  The elderly are hurt by the super low interest rates caused by the federal government’s and Fed’s intervention in the markets.  This has substantially cut their income, which is typically placed in safe investments such as money markets.  As for women, 800,000 less are working than the day president was inaugurated.  Finally, African-Americans have an unemployment rate that is over 14%.

Liberal policies have put a beating on the wealth and well-being of most minorities, especially those are disadvantaged.  Like the President, Liberals refuse to be judged on results, but instead focus on fairytales.  If this was done with good intent, the actions would be but failures.  Making matters worse, Leftist have created industries that are becoming wealthy on others’ hardships.

Obama’s Disingenuous Comments About Working Women

Posted by Steve Markowitz on April 14, 2012

Barack Obama has a habit of coming speaking eloquent words that do not match reality.  Such was the case recently in his response to the furor over Hillary Rosen’s nasty attack on Ann Romney.  Rosen attacked Romney relating to her being a stay-at-home mom.

Rosen, a Democratic strategist, has visited the White House approximately 35 times since Obama was elected.  President Obama, instead of directly taking on Rosen’s comments, did his typical two step.  In the video below, with a straight face, Obama incredibly said: “We did not have the luxury for her not to work“, referring to he and Michelle’s working arrangement as they raised their young daughters.  Let’s see, both graduated Ivy League schools and both were lawyers making six figures.

Mr. President, either you or Michelle could have stayed home with your children.  You both made different choices.  Your attempt to re-create history is related to guilt or a desire to be grouped with a part of America that you lived above.

Sharia Law’s Incompatibility With a Free Society Shielded by Political Correctness

Posted by Steve Markowitz on February 6, 2012

This past week Bill O’Reilly posted an op-ed on BillOReilly.com that covers two of the most challenging problems facing Western society; the radicalization of Islam and political correctness.

A couple that emigrated from Afghanistan four years ago were convicted in Canada of murdering their three teenage daughters.  Making this grotesque story even more barbaric was that the parents were assisted in the killings by their 21-year-old son.

Why were the three teenage girls murdered?  These girls dared to attempt to Westernizes and befriend Christian students.  The couple, who immigrated to Canada four years ago from Afghanistan, would have had the right make the honor killings under Taliban rule.

Interpreting Sharia law is often left to clerics with the amount of power they have determined by the governments of the countries where they preside.  However, when it comes to the treatment of women, Sharia law at best discriminatory and at worst allows them be killed by their families for attempting free expression.  While this makes Sharia law incompatible with free Western society, Progressives including those in the mainstream media refuse to address this reality.

Immigrants from foreign lands with different backgrounds and religions built the United States into the greatest country of all times. Until recently, the Country demanded that immigrants follow our laws and assimilate into our dynamic society.  It was the simple demands and the immigrants willingness to meet them and allowed American society and the immigrants to prosper.

In recent decades, Progressives took control of our government and changed the rules for immigrants.  No longer did the country demand that they follow our laws or assimilate into our society.  As a result, immigrants are being marginalized and are finding it more difficult to succeed.  In addition, many are on the dole and have quickly lost motivation to succeed on their own.  The mainstream media knows full well this reality and for that reason hides behind political correctness when it comes to the incompatibility of Islamic law and Western culture.

As Bill O’Reilly so correctly concludes:  “Political correctness is dangerous because it obscures the truth.  It allows certain people and groups to avoid scrutiny for destructive actions.”

Cougar Mascot Latest Mascot Victim of Political Correctness

Posted by Steve Markowitz on January 23, 2012

The Canyons School District in Utah has decided that their student’s choice of the cougar for their schools mascot is inappropriate as it might offend some women.  Why?  Because the beast found in Utah may attack women while jogging?  No, because Hollywood and the hip generation have used the poor critter as a symbol of older gals with fixed faces and tummy tucks chasing younger men.

Yikes, political correctness has taken yet another step closer to book burning!  It is no wonder our children come out of school ill-prepared for the rigors of life or a modern economy.
