Protecting Our Young Citizens

Violence with our young people is an increasing problem for our society.  A recent tragedy in Chicago brought this problem to the forefront.

Chicago Beating Death VigilOn September 24, 2009 16-year-old honor student, Derrion Albert, was beaten to death by fellow teens and the crime was caught on video for the nation to see.  Derrion was on his way to school when he had the misfortune of getting in between two groups of angry teens.  Without provocation, Derrion was beaten to death with clubs.

To show concern and solitary with the community, President Obama sent Attorney General Eric Holder and Education Secretary Arne Duncan to Chicago this week to meet with city and school officials.  Their concern is noble, however, no specifics relating to problem resolution were offered by the Administration during the visit.  There are reasons for this lack of direction.
