Congresswoman Maxine Waters Political Doubletalk

Posted by Steve Markowitz on May 11, 2017

Washington DC is a remarkable place with mystical powers to turn people who once seemed sane into blabbering fools.  These powers have no political boundaries, affecting politicians on the Left and the Right; Democrats and Republicans.

This week, Congresswoman Maxine Waters became the poster child for the Washington derangement-related illness.  During an interview with MSNBC’s Peter Alexander, Ms. Waters went bizarre, even by Washington standards.  The exchange started with a video clip from late last year showing Waters declaring that former FBI director James Comey had “no credibility”.  After showing this video, Alexander asked Waters if he could assume that she supported President Trump’s decision to fire Comey.  To that, Waters responded in the negative.  It is hard to understand why the Congresswoman would not support the firing of one of the most important federal law enforcement officials who she previously indicated had “no credibility”.

After further exchange included in the video below, Waters went full circle into the bizarre when Alexander asked: “So if Hillary Clinton had won the White House would you have recommended that she fire FBI Director James Comey?”  To that Waters incredibly responds: “Well let me tell you something.  If she had won the White House, I believe that given what he did to her, and what he tried to do, she should have fired him, yes!”

While Congresswoman Waters twisted logic has a humorous side, its underlying logic is dangerous, inflicting many politicians.  To these politicians the law is not blind, but instead a tool to be used to promote a political agenda against political opponents.

Liars and Politicians

Posted by Steve Markowitz on April 19, 2017

Politicians are generally a slippery bunch. While initially they may enter the field to improve cities, states or the federal government, they are often corrupted by the lure of reelection and the power and money that flow from it.

Prior to modern digital media, changing and ridiculous politicians’ statements were often lost in time. Now, with Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc., a politician’s statements are memorialized forever. This brings about a daily litany of political doubletalk, lies and/or stupid statements in clear view.

This week we can thank Congresswoman Maxine Waters for the entertainment within a two minute interview on MSNBC, as included in the video below. First, Waters confirms that she called for impeachment of President Trump. Then, almost immediately said: “I have not called for impeachment.” Ms. Waters’ flip-flop would be comical if one could forget that she is involved in writing the Country’s laws.

Congresswoman Johnson Tells Cavuto to Shut Up

Congresswoman Johnson Tells Cavuto to Shut Up

Too many so-called conservatives on the Right don’t walk the talk.  While claiming to be against big government spending, they supported Pres. George W. Bush’s huge deficit spending.  They also claim allegiance to the Constitution, but often attempt to intervene in social issues not authorized to the government under that Constitution.  Neil Cavuto, commentator for Fox News, is no such interloper, one that is willing to attack either party for fiscal irresponsibility.

During an interview this week with Congresswoman Bernice Johnson, Democrat from Texas, Cavuto exposed Ms. Johnson and her Leftist allies as disingenuous on the Fiscal Cliff negotiations.  The Left has created the false narrative that raising taxes on the top 2% of Americans will solve the Country’s significant fiscal problems.  While taxes on wealthier Americans will need to increase due to the deficits, this increase will do little to address the Country’s deficits that it been caused by excess spending, especially in the area of entitlements.

During the interview, Cavuto asked Congresswoman Johnson that assuming Republicans agreed to Left’s requested tax increases, where she would cut spending.  It is clear in the answer in the video below that she and her colleagues would not agree real spending cuts.  In fact, when pressed on this matter, the Congresswoman told Caputo to “shut up”.  It is evident that Cavuto hit the crux of the matter.

Congressman Rand Paul, libertarian Republican Sen. from Kentucky, suggested that Republicans should give into the presence demand for the tax increase on wealthier Americans.  Paul’s theory is that with Democrats winning the presidential election, they should be given a chance to govern.  Their economic policies will fail forcing the Country to have a reality check and go back to a more realistic fiscal path.  Taxes can then be lowered after the Country is ready for more sound policies.  Rand’s approach is a sound strategy worthy of consideration.

Congresswomen Jackson Lee’s Vietnam Ignorance

Posted by Steve Markowitz on July 16, 2010

Congresswomen Sheila Jackson Lee offered blatant proof of the ignorance that has enveloped the professional politicians that are supposed to represent the people.  First, Ms. Lee’s credentials.

Congresswoman Lee, a Democrat, is serving her seventh term in the United States House of Representatives.  She represents the 18th Congressional District of Texas in the Houston area.  According to Ms. Lee’s website, she earned a B.A. in Political Science from Yale University with honors, followed by a J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School.  As indicated in the video below, her credentials do not match her ignorance of the world and relatively modern history.

Ms. Lee sits on the following Committees in Congress:

  • The Committee on the Judiciary; Including Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security, and International Law and Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security
  • The Committee on Homeland Security; Including the Subcommittee on Transportation Security and Infrastructure Protection and the Subcommittee on Border, Maritime, and Global Counter Terrorism.
  • The Committee on Foreign Affairs; Including the Subcommittee on Africa and Global Health and the Subcommittee on the Middle East and South Asia.

In a recently video-taped speech, Ms. Lee incredibly announced that Viet Nam was still divided into the North and South and that the United States was victorious in that War.  How could anyone serving on Congress, let only sitting on the Subcommittee on the Middle East and South Asia under the Foreign Affairs Committee, be so ignorant of these important facts and this important part of history?  Incredible!

Don’t expect to see this important story on network news.  These in-the-tank media outlets will do anything to protect the Leftist Progressives now running this Country.  That is the most tragic story here.
