After you think that you have thought you have seen it all, take another look. Political correctness has been taken to a new level in Rhode Island where the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) successfully stopped age-old traditions, the father daughter school dance and another “gender-based” event the mother–son baseball game.
The ACLU filed a complaint on behalf of a mother who didn’t like the fact that her daughter could not attend a school dance because she did not have a willing father to accompany her. According to the mother and ACLU, the child would feel “left out” of the dance. Yikes! Heaven forbid that we should blame the mother for her poor choice of a father for the child.
After receiving the ACLU’s complaint, school district superintendent Judith Lundsten halted the events stating: “I acknowledge that many of these events have long traditions and for many parents, these types of gender-based events are not an issue. However, this is a public school system and under no circumstances should be isolating any child from full participation in school activities and events based on gender. Please be all-inclusive when planning your events.”
As political correctness gains in ever stronger foothold in American society, it places at risk the very guarantees of freedom and independence that our founders attempted to guarantee in the US Constitution.

America has become a great success in part because it has been the “melting pot” of the world. With cultures from all continents, this diversity helped produce a great nation; that is until the Progressives took over the Country and turned strength into weakness.
All Americans are decedents of immigrants, most of who came to the Country between the mid 1800’s and early 1900s. Immigrants came from Europe, and to a lesser extent Asia, and brought with them diverse religious backgrounds. At the same time there was commonality; they all desired the better life that America offered, both economically and politically. They took lower echelon jobs and focused on their children’s’ education and growth. This resulted in many of these families’ next generation becoming successful, thereby also strengthening the Country.
These earlier immigrants got little assistance from the government with few social programs in place. Instead, immigrants created strong bonds of family and community who helped the newcomers on their journeys. While they maintained their religions, immigrants were determined to become Americans and assimilate into their new country as they understood this was the path to prosperity.
Contrast this earlier the melting pot with the current version. Now, many immigrants come from Mexico, with a large subset coming from Africa and the Asian sub-continent. Instead of being cajoled by realities on the ground towards assimilation, they are told by Progressives to maintain their differences. They are also aided by governmental programs, for example, to maintain their own languages. Most damaging to long-term prosperity, they are given handouts through governmental programs that kill incentive to achieve.
While this newer approach towards immigrants may have initially been well-intentioned by the Liberals who promoted it, the results have been failure. Assimilation into the American culture has been stymied and many children of immigrants do not speak English as a first language. This puts them in a subclass of poverty and they now blame their adoptive country for their failures.
The language barriers and failed social programs now have a new partner. Immigrants from countries with Muslim majorities are demanding that the Shariah (Muslim law) be integrated into America. This shows the growth of Progressive insanity. Shariah law is the antithesis of the U.S. Constitution. It subjugates individual freedoms to “rules” called for in the Koran. It also subjugates the majority, women, to the male majority.
Where are Progrssives in the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) and NOW (National Organization of Women)? They are most likely more concerned with the Sarah Palins of the world. After viewing the video below, while a bit dated, you choose the danger.

The Wall Street Journal reported last week that the American Civil Liberties Union and Center for Constitutional Rights have sued the Obama Administration over its use of air drones for targeted killings in Pakistan and other countries. In targeted kills, the CIA or other intelligence agency target suspected terrorist for killing by missiles. The civil-libertarians claim such killings violate U.S. laws against assassinations.
It is ironic that the Obama Administration, who came to office with loud protests for the terrorist prison in Guantanamo and the use of water-boarding on terrorists, has no problem assassinating suspected terrorists that they can’t catch. Such is the logic of Liberals at war.
