Posted below is an advertisement used by a Leftists super pac to attack Republican Congressman Allen West from Florida. It includes typical Leftist rhetoric with the false narrative that conservatives are against the elderly, women, and minorities. A review of recent history tells a different tale.
All of the three subcategories created by liberals are faring worse today than the day Barack Obama was elected president. The elderly are hurt by the super low interest rates caused by the federal government’s and Fed’s intervention in the markets. This has substantially cut their income, which is typically placed in safe investments such as money markets. As for women, 800,000 less are working than the day president was inaugurated. Finally, African-Americans have an unemployment rate that is over 14%.
Liberal policies have put a beating on the wealth and well-being of most minorities, especially those are disadvantaged. Like the President, Liberals refuse to be judged on results, but instead focus on fairytales. If this was done with good intent, the actions would be but failures. Making matters worse, Leftist have created industries that are becoming wealthy on others’ hardships.

The video of a recent interview by CNN’s Soledad O’Brien of Florida Congressman Allen West is telling on various fronts. First, the anger and disdain shown by Ms. O’Brien to Congressman West is not only unprofessional for a newscaster, but unmasks her total Leftist political bias. It also reminds us Libertarian Conservatives why we respect the good Congressman so much.
It is interesting that Ms. O’Brien take such offense to Congressman West labeling some of his compatriots in Congress as “Communists”. O’Brien in typical Leftist fashion, rejects as almost sacrilegious any label placed on fellow Leftists that might offend middle America. Given Progressive socio-economic views, you would think that the Left would be proud of their beliefs. In addition, Ms. O’Brien and her fellow Leftists have no problem labeling those they disagree with such phrases as extremist, the Christian Right, etc.
While many on the right of center support Mitt Romney, that support for some in this group is tepid and more out of concern for the continued radical leftist policies that will occur should Barack Obama be reelected. On the other hand, the reelection of Obama will significantly increase the likelihood that a Constitutionalist and more conservative politician like Allen West will be elected in 2016. Is that possibility that should be of more concern to Leftists like Soledad O’Brien than Congressman West’s use of adjectives. But that would take a strategic thinking.

On March 31, 2010 we posted a piece titled “America: a Great Country with a Great People” about Lieutenant Colonel Allen West (US Army, Retired), who was then a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from Florida. Colonel West has since been elected to the Congress and he is a force that will have to be reckoned with by the career politicians in Washington, D.C.
Colonel West served in several combat zones including in Operation Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom and in Afghanistan. His military honors include a Bronze Star, three Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Commendation Medals (one with Valor), and a Valorous Unit Award.
Colonel West retired after more than twenty years of service in the Army and taught high school for one year in Broward County, Florida. He then returned to Afghanistan, serving as an advisor to the Afghan army, completing that assignment in late 2007. During his active military service, West received his Bachelors degree from University of Tennessee and Masters from Kansas State University, both in political science. He also received a Master of Military Arts and Sciences from the US Army Command and General Staff Officer College.
Carl sent in a video attached below that goes a long way towards defining who Allen West is. West was on a panel last January held by the Hudson Institute. When asked by a Marine as to how to answer people who say that terrorists are following a “warped” version of Islam, West did something few who seek public office do today; he answered the question without equivocation. This included the statement: “This is not a perversion. They are doing exactly what this book (i.e., the Qur’an) says.”
Yes, Colonel West, is on his way to Washington and will be the first African-American Republican congressman to represent Florida since 1870. Progressives watch out; there are changes coming to Washington D.C.

Sometimes those of us who are concerned with that direction America has taken in the last couple of decades lose sight of the larger picture. We see the growing public deficits and loss of moral courage in government and the private sector and allow them to cloud our view of the overriding good that is America.
Today, two associates shared with me separate items that helped put things in a more realistic perspective and I would like to share them with you. First, a quoted from the Associated Press by e:
“A man who fears suffering is already suffering from what he fears”.
Let us not get lost in the fear of what Pelosi, Reid, Obama and the rest of the Progressives continue to preach. Let us instead need to focus on implementing positive change and that brings me to a video that has gone viral on You Tube, a speech by Colonel Allen West who is running for Congress in Florida, linked below.
The Republican Party has lost its way since the mantle was passed by Ronald Reagan. We need new blood with a passion to bring this country back to the correct path. With a younger generation like Colonel West starting to “percolate”, there is reason for optimism. Remember, it took the high-priest of Progressivism, Jimmy Carter, to bring us President Reagan.
