UN’s Anti-Semitic/Anti-Democratic History

Posted by Steve Markowitz on June 25, 2015

The United Nations was founded in late 1945 to promote cooperation between countries worldwide order to inhibit future conflicts and wars.  Like the League of Nations before it, the UN has been ineffective.  With 193 member nations, the UN has become little more than a propaganda mouthpiece for special interests countries and a place for diplomats to get rich.

In 2006 the United Nations formed its Human Rights Council, supposedly to call out human rights violations worldwide.  Its track record is telling.  During its 10 year history, it has called Israel 61 times on human rights violations, while only calling all other countries in total for only 55 violations.

While Israel has likely committed human rights violations in its conflict with the Palestinians, the outrageous special treatment it has received from the United Nations strips the organization of any semblance of neutrality and real concern for human rights.  The UN’s track record in this area shows that worldwide anti-Semitism is alive and well.

UCLA Video Shows Student Council Anti-Semitism

Posted by Steve Markowitz on March 2, 2015

UCLA’s Rachel Beyda is a law student who decided to try out for Universiy’s Judicial Council.  She evidently had a fine resume.  However, when she went before the Council for a final interview, she was initially turned down due to one fact: she is Jewish, as indicated in the video clip posted below.

There was a time when UCLA’s Student Council’s action would have been labeled anti-Semitism.  But in these days of political correctness and bigoted behavior by the Left, it is often excused as something else.

After intervention by a faculty member, Beyda was ultimately appointed to the position.  However, even in the offending party’s apology, the Leftist anti-Semitism remains glaring with Fabienne Roth saying: “I am really sorry with how I framed my argument and the words that I used.  Using someone’s identity against them is completely unacceptable”.  Typical of Leftist bigotry, Progressive Roth believes it is the words or their framing that is the problem. No it is not.  The problem is the bigotry in the heart.

There was a time when bigotry was more likely to emanate from the Right side of the political spectrum.  While it still exists, those of the Right are quickly called for bigoted behavior by the press and greater society.  Today, bigotry is growing on the Left that is creatively camouflaged by political correctness and false intellectualism.  Its growing presence on college campuses should be a concern to all Americans.

Journalist Blasts Danish Ambassador for Europe’s Double Standard Towards Israel

Posted by Steve Markowitz on December 14, 2014

Followers of the diplomatic doubletalk from Europe concerning the Israeli-Palestinian matter is aware of the double standard Israel is often held to. Any attempt by Israeli at self-defense that results in casualties on the other side is made a world pressing problem, not only by Europe, but also in the United Nations. Any Israeli policy that could be detrimental to Palestinian interests receives similar treatment. However, when it comes to the damage Palestinians inflict on their own people, or the carnage that Arabs inflict on fellow Arabs, there is rarely international outcry.

When the issue of the standard towards Israel is raised, it is often trivialized by Progressive diplomats and the mainstream media. However, recently in a rare show of frankness, the Danish Ambassador to Israel, Jesper Vahr, came out and admitted to the double standard saying:

Those are not the standards that you are being judged by. It is not the standards that Israel would want to be judged by. So I think you have the right to insist that we apply double standards and put you to the same standards as all the rest of the countries in the European context.”

Vahr’s admission is both remarkable and scary. On the one hand it is condescending to the Palestinians and the greater Arab population insinuating that they are not capable of the “European standards”. It also reeks of anti-Semitism for which Europe has a sordid history.

During the roundtable discussion where made his remarkable comments, Jerusalem Post editor Caroline Glick ripped into the Ambassador, as included in the video below. Glick’s comments included: “Isn’t it kind of patronizing to the Palestinians to say that, ‘We hold Israel to a higher standard than we hold you’?”, to which Vahr incredibly responded: “I am not sure it is”. Glick then took Vahr to the woodshed saying:

I think that this patronizing attitude towards us that we should be happy that you have a separate standard for Israel is really, I’m sorry, a statement of contempt for our intelligence. I consider it to be an obsession. I consider Europe’s keen interest in the Middle East, specifically Israel, to be an obsession, and it’s an obsession that Jews have seen from Europeans from the time of Jesus. ‘We have this whole common culture,’ I mean, really? We respect international law. You guys make it up.” She then goes on to cite examples.

Unfortunately the double standard towards Israel does not end in Europe. The US State Department and current American President pursue this same Progressive agenda. The failure of this agenda and its related policies are significant reasons behind the current mess in the Middle East and the deplorable plight of many Palestinians and the greater Arab population. But reality does not deter Progressives who when confronted with their failed policies, often merely double down on the bad bets.

Harvard Shows Signs of anti-Semitism

Posted by Steve Markowitz on December 2, 2012

This Blog has proffered the view that racism and anti-Semitism is currently more prevalent on the Left than emanating from the Right.  A recent example of this Leftists hate emanates from that bastion of modern liberalism, Harvard University.  According to newsbusters.org, students at the Nine River Houses residence had invitations placed under their doors late last week to attend “Harvard’s Newest Final Club.”  In footnotes the invitation stated: “Jews need not apply, … Seriously, no f–king Jews,” as well as “Coloreds OK”.

After concluding that this offensive diatribe was not part of the satirical Harvard Lampoon, a Harvard official said: “As Dean of the College, and as an educator, I find these flyers offensive.  They are not a reflection of the values of our community.  Even if intended as satirical in nature, they are hurtful and offensive to many students, faculty and staff, and do not demonstrate the level of thoughtfulness and respect we expect at Harvard when engaging difficult issues within our community.”  It is telling that such boorish and hateful actions require interpretation as to their appropriateness in Leftist institutions; so much for common sense and common decency.

Progressives in America and throughout the greater Western world have traveled down a slippery slope that includes a grotesque mixture of political correctness and bigotry.  This dangerous path has been traveled before in the not-too-distant past and has led to very bad outcomes including Stalin’s and Mao’s butchering of their own people, sandwiched around fascism.  We should not expect the Leftists to see the perversion within their ranks.  That responsibility rests with middle America who has in recent times shown too much tolerance towards the Left’s bigotry.

Anti-Israeli Rant from Democrat National Committee Member Forces Resignation

Posted by Steve Markowitz on July 8, 2012

Last week another Democrat Leftist came out of the closet with an anti-Israeli rant.  Evelyn Garcia was the Palm Beach representative to the Democratic National Committee until her resignation on July 2, 2012.  This resignation resulted from some e-mails of Garcia that went public comparing Israel’s struggles with the Palestinians to “slavery” and “apartheid” and blamed Israel for “crimes against humanity” and accused the country of holding “mass concentration camps”.

Garcia’s e-mails were in her defense of the radical Leftist organization Code Pink who also was attacking Israel.  After the publicity Garcia resigned and apologized calling her remarks “ugly” and “hurtful”.  The apology is hollow.  It is not the ugliness or hurtfulness of the comments that are problematic.  Instead, it is the radical views that many Leftists hold in support of radical regimes at the expense of America’s friends and values.  This same mentality on the Left in the 1960s either outwardly supported or glorified radical including Che Guevara, Fidel Castro, Mao Tse-tung, the Black Panthers, and yes Obama friend Jeff Ayers.

Remarkably, one of Garcia’s associates is Floridian Congresswoman and DNC Chairman Debbie Wasserman Schultz who is not only Jewish, but a strong supporter of Israel as shown in the video below.  This unholy association between irreconcilable philosophies is a poorly kept secret on the Left.  To Progressives, the ends justify the means.  As the Pete Seeger sang in the 1960s, “when will they ever learn“?

Palestinian Gets Death Sentence for Selling Home to Jews

Posted by Steve Markowitz on April 23, 2012

The Weekly Standard today published a barbaric story concerning the Palestinian Authority.  A former Palestinian official, Muhammad Abu Shahala, has been sentenced to death.  His heinous crime?  He reportedly had the gall to sell his home to Jews.

According to the Standard, shortly after the Palestinian Authority was established in 1994, one of the first laws they adopted was to make selling land to Jews a capital offense.  Another example of Muslim tolerance?

Barack Obama and other Leftists have proffered the view over the years that the problems between the Israelis and Palestinians would disappear if only both sides would sit down and talk.  How naïve.  The Palestinians and other Arab governments have been preaching anti-Semitism for decades.  They have raised their children filled with hate and bigotry.  Such hatred as deep-seated within their culture cannot be negotiated away.

Should the Palestinian Authority execute Abu Shahala, he will become another statistic added to the death side of the ledger by a corrupt and brutal Arab government.  How many innocents must die at the hands of these despots before the Arab masses get it?

Anti-Semite Organized Occupy Miami Movement

Posted by Steve Markowitz on November 27, 2011

WorldNetDaily a November 25th, published another story titled OCCUPY THIS! exposing additional bigotry that is part of the Occupy movement.  According to The Miami Herald, Mohammad Malik is and organizer of the Occupy Miami movement.  Over recent weeks Malik has in fact been quoted in the press as speaking for Occupy.

Before becoming involved in the Occupy movement, Malik was involved in other radical and Left-leaning groups.  While currently unemployed, he previously worked for the ACLU.  More significantly, Malik was director of CAIR’s (Council on American-Islamic Relations) South Florida chapter as well as his associations with other Islamic groups that have been involved with hate filled, anti-Israel demonstrations.

As an example of Malik’s radical leaning, during his tenure as a CAIR executive, he organized a dinner with its keynote speaker being Siraj Wahhaj, an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.  Wahhaj was an apologist for convicted WTC bomb plotters and has expressed his desire to invoke and Islamic caliphate in the United States, i.e. Sharia law.

Malik is not the first member of CAIR involved with the Occupy movement.  CAIR worked with the Islamic Leadership Council and the Arab-American Association of New York to lead prayer sessions in the Occupy Wall Street movement.  CAIR also has relations with other radical organizations, including Code Pink.

There is growing evidence that the radicals involved in the Occupy movement are more than just fringe misfits tagging along for the ride.  In Miami, a radical anti-Semite is a leader of the Occupy movement.  It is disappointing that Leftist politicians remain silent on the hate groups involved with the Occupy movement.  It is telling that while President Obama and Nancy Pelosi were so willing to speak positively about the movement, they have since remained silent on its growing dark side.

The Leftists has become beholden to bigots and anti-Semites as a source of political power.  It is ironic that earlier days such misfits were more likely to come from the Right now feel so comfortable joining the Left’s movement.

There is growing anger in the United States that comes from the lengthy economic downturn, as well as our dysfunctional government.  That anger was expressed during the November 2010 elections with the electorate showing a throw the bums out mentality.  It was also expressed by the creation of two significant movements, the Tea Party and Occupy.  However, these movements are very different.  While the Tea Party expressed its anger with a main theme; smaller government and less government spending, the Occupy movement after months has yet to create its political theme.  Instead, the Occupy movement has become merely a collection of disgruntled Americans with Leftist views.  That has made them ripe for infiltration and control by radicals such as CAIR and Code Pink.

Cal Thomas wrote an op-ed posted below that expresses the weaknesses behind some of the more mainstream Americans that have become involved with the Occupy movement.  He concludes with a revealing comment by former Democrat Senator from New Jersey and professional basketball player, Bill Bradley, who so aptly said: “Ambition is the path to success.  Persistence is the vehicle you arrive in.”  Unfortunately, Progressives have proffered the perverse view that Americans cannot achieve without the help of their government.  Is that belief that now permeates the Occupy movement.

Thankfulness and OWS, by Cal Thomas

For more than half my life I was a 99-percenter.  I kept my first pay stubs in the news business to remind me where I came from and what was necessary in order to get where I am today.

In 1975, while working at a TV station in Houston, I wrote a letter to a friend in Washington complaining about my stalled career and low salary.  “I will probably die here with my boots on, boots bought on a revolving charge and not fully paid for,” I griped.  My memory is not that good. He kept the letter and showed it to me a few years ago.  We laughed.

At age 37, I was making $25,000 a year with few prospects of earning more.  Suddenly things began to change.  All the hard work and experience resulted in a better job and more pay.

As a young reporter, I interviewed many successful people.  “Where did you go to college and what did you study?”  I asked them.  “What is your philosophy of life and work ethic?”  Rather than envy them, I wanted to be like them.

This is what’s missing from the envy culture of the movement known as Occupy Wall Street (OWS). Envy is greed’s equally bad brother.  Those who lack what they think they deserve lust after the money and property of wealth creators.  They seem to know little of what used to be called the “work ethic.”

Many in the OWS crowd are also deficient in their understanding of economics.  There is not a single pie from which all must eat.  Instead, life contains a recipe everyone can follow to make pies for themselves.  The pies are not guaranteed to be the same size for all, but if the right ingredients are used, those pies can make anyone self-sufficient.

This is the great philosophical divide that liberal politicians have effectively used to gain power for themselves while dooming increasing numbers of their fellow Americans to a life of dependency, failure and envy.

The recently failed debt commission contained elements of a poison familiar to many who have succeeded in life by their own efforts.  Democrats wanted to tax the rich even more, but has a tax increase ever resulted in less spending?  When the federal government gets more of our money, it doesn’t suddenly become fiscally responsible.  The more money it gets, often the more it spends.

In an America not long ago, we encouraged persistence. “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again” was a little saying I often heard growing up. Now it seems the message too many are sending and receiving is, “If at first you don’t succeed, don’t try again; turn to government (or a lawyer).”

I am thankful to live in a country that still rewards hard work, personal responsibility and accountability.  But that country, which was my role model as a young man, is rapidly fading into history.  Human nature is such that a substantial number of people can be addicted to a government check if they choose not to work.  But many of our grandparents taught us by example that the pursuit of success was a noble quest.  Parents once bragged about what their children had become.

How many parents are bragging about their kids occupying cities and universities and fouling the ground and streets with human waste?

Bill Bradley, former Democratic senator and professional basketball player, once observed: “Ambition is the path to success.  Persistence is the vehicle you arrive in.”

We should be thankful for such truth. I would be more thankful if it were on the rise instead of in decline.

Another Anti-Semite Leftist at Occupy Wall Street, LA

Posted by Steve Markowitz on October 18, 2011

The point of the video posted below is self-evident.  The under-current of anti-Semitism that has been a part of the radical Left for years is coming out of the closet.  This should not be a surprise given that our current President attended an openly anti-Semitic and racist church for 20-years.

Just imagine the mainstream media’s response if one Tea Partier would have made this public rant.  Now, listen to the silence from the Leftist media.

Anti-Semitism at the Occupy Wall Street Rally

Posted by Steve Markowitz on October 14, 2011

In the early days of the Tea Party, some on the Left and in the mainstream media attempted to damage the movement by calling it racist.  That claim lost steam as it was patently untrue.  It was but another attempt by the Left to portray those who disagree with their political philosophy as either ignorant and/or racist.

While there are racist fringes in any political movement, the Right has to a great extent been purged of this disease due its sensitivity to such claims that came from the media’s focus on the Right’s legacy racism.  It wasn’t that long ago that Senator Trent Lott was purged of his leadership position in the Republican Party due to an insensitive comment at a Strom Thurmond birthday party.

The Left, on the other hand, has often been given a pass on the racism and anti-Semitism by the mainstream media.  When someone from the Left makes a racist or anti-Semantic remark, often it is excused by his Leftist associates with a comment such as “I know what’s in his heart”.

There is no better example of the pass the Left receives on racism than then one given to Barack Obama during his run for the presidency.  After Obama’s relationship with the racist Pastor Jeremiah Wright became public, the mainstream media and Democratic Party accepted his excuse that while he sat in the church and listened to Wright’s sermons for 20 years, he did not hear them.  Ludicrous!

Earlier this week, a video of one of the Occupy Wall Street’s protesters making aa Semitic rant was posted on YouTube, link provided below.  However, don’t expect the mainstream media to hold these Leftist protesters to the same standards they held the Tea Party.  Once again, this protester will be tagged as merely a fringe player on the Left and not representative of the movement; yet another pass for the Left.

The Democrat Party, who represents the Left, is a collection of special interests.  Many of these interest groups are legitimate with legitimate, if not misguided, causes.  However, the Democratic Party has also become home to radicals with racist, race baiting and anti-Semitic leanings.  That makes an anti-Semite, like the one ranting in the video, feel comfortable joining their rallies.  It also allows other protesters to ignore the cancer growing within the demonstration.

Bill Maher: Another Progressive Bigot Comes Out of the Closet

Posted by Steve Markowitz on April 9, 2011

What does Progressive Leftist Bill Maher do when he is unhappy with President Obama?  He resorts spouting anti-Semitism.  This past Friday Maher said (video below):

“I heard him a couple of times saying, “You know what? We met the Republicans what they asked, and then we gave them more.”  That’s like your lawyer saying to you,  “You know, I went into the chambers with the judge and the prosecutor, and my first offer was 40 years to life for you. And I think I can get your tailgating charge moved up to manslaughter.  And that’s my first offer.”  What is wrong with these people?  He is a terrible negotiator.  Does he not even know a Jew?”

Adding an exclamation point to his bigotry, Maher then showed a poster for replacing Glenn Beck on Fox News that depicted Joe Lieberman doing a program called, “Morning Jew.”

For years bigotry has been gaining traction in Leftist circles.  In earlier years it manifested itself mainly on the Left’s fringes with the likes of Louis Farrakhan and Pastor Wright.  It is becoming more mainstream in the Left.  Maher joins other Leftist bigots, as previously post on this Blog:

NPR’s Vivian Schiller attacking Zionist and Christians.

Code Pink calling for Clarence Thomas to be lynched.

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell saying the Michael Steele answers to “his masters”.

Helen Thomas telling Jews to go back to Germany.

Oliver Stone indicating that Jews have overblown the Holocaust.

Congressman Paul Kanjorski demeaning minorities.

MSNBC’s Chris Mathews forgets that Obama is black for a few minutes.

Cynthia Tucker taking off on Michael because he is black.

When examples of racism and bigotry from the Left are outed, inevitably Progressive elitists offer excuses such as “they know what is in the person’s heart and therefore that person could not be a racists”.  The Left has wrapped racism in the covers of political correctness for their own continence.  This is a dangerous slippery slope that can lead to fascism.  It is the same slide that allowed half the country to vote for president a man who admittedly attended a bigoted church for twenty years.
