ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, closed its door this week. This is not remarkable given ACORN’s corruption. However, what is remarkable about AOCRN’s disintegration is how it occurred. Unlike Nixon, who a generation ago was brought down by the mainstream media doing their job, it took Fox News and the Blogosphere to out this group. Why? Because the mainstream media is no longer willing to take on any interest that supports the Progressive cause.
Another hiccup in outing the ACORN scandal was its friends in high places. ACORN was an important partner to the Democrat Party. They contributed funds to the Party and were in line to get a big payday from the Democrat Congress before the scandal became public. ACORN turned out votes for Obama and Democrats, even with some for people who did not exist. Yes, they took Chicago politics national.
ACORN also had a friend in Barrack Obama. He not only worked for ACORN in earlier years, but considered them a close confidant until the political heat got turned up. Look at the brief video below and hear the President’s own words about his association with ACORN a few years ago.
When you add the President’s ACORN connection to his other questionable associations to radicals like Bill Ayers, Reverend Wright, Van Jones and others, the picture indicates what is in the man’s heart. But not to worry on the Left. The President’s apologists will excuse this is just another tempest in a teapot and another effort by the Loony Right to discredit him. Wow, and we thought the Nixon gang was paranoid.

Previously this Blog included a posting on ACORN and its illegal activities. See link: https://enduringsense1.wordpress.com/2009/09/20/acorn-rotten-to-the-core-ignored-by-the-press/ .
The ACORN story, however, will not go away with Congress’s decision to no longer fund it with taxpayer money. With its veil of secrecy compromised by the recent scandals, “friends” of ACORN will be exposed and it is likely that some powerful people will be caught up in the mess. Read the rest of this entry »

ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) has finally been called on its illegal practices. This past week the Senate and Congress both voted to cut off federal funds to ACORN. While the action is to be applauded, it raises serious questions about the government’s prior funding of ACORN and the press ignoring this story. The Senate and Congress acted only after videos were released showing ACORN’s willingness to work with teenage prostitutes.
The cancer within ACORN has been known for many months, if not years. It was not publicized because the mainstream media chose to bury the story. Here are some of the facts that they burred:
- The co-founder of ACORN, Wade Rathke, was a member of the Students for Democratic Society (SDS), one of the most radical groups of the 1970’s. His brother, Dale, was caught embezzling $1,000,000 from ACORN in 1999. A small group of ACORN executives decided to withhold this information from ACORN’s board and to not alert law enforcement. Incredibly, Dale Rathke remained on ACORN’s payroll until 2008 when the theft was disclosed and donors forced the organization to dismiss him.
- When eight of ACORN’s Board members tried to blow the whistle on the organization’s financial scandals, they were thrown out of the organization.
- ACORN has been charged with voter fraud in various states.
