Obamacare Insider Admits to Deceiving Americans

Posted by Steve Markowitz on November 11, 2014

In an incredible show of disdain for the People, Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber was caught on tape bragging about how the Administration bamboozled the electorate.  While speaking at the Workers Compensation Research Institute in Boston, Massachusetts earlier this year, the MIT economist, who served as a technical consultant for Obamacare, said in the video posted below:

“This bill was written in a tortured way to make sure CBO did not score the mandate as taxes.  If CBO scored the mandate as taxes, the bill dies.  Okay, so it’s written to do that.  In terms of risk rated subsidies, if you had a law which said that healthy people are going to pay in – you made explicit healthy people pay in and sick people get money, it would not have passé.  Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage.  And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really really critical for the thing to pass.  Look, I wish Mark was right that we could make it all transparent, but I’d rather have this law than not.”

So here you have it.  The Obama Administration lied to the American People in order to pass a bill that could not have passed through honesty.  Gruber has the gall to publicly state that the ends justify the means.  He seems oblivious to history that has demonstrated that some really bad things have occurred when governments take this approach.

Had the American Affordable Care Act truly been affordable they could have honestly presented the reality of this bill to the People.  The fact that they used dishonesty to get it passed proves it will be anything but affordable.
