Whoopi Goldberg Shows the Racist Side of Political Correctness

The danger of political correctness stifling needed discussions and morphing into its own form of bigotry became apparent during a recent episode of The View. The discussion centered around curtailing free speech if the words offend someone.
Will Cain, who was being interviewed, proffered the view that this trend in political correctness will ultimately lead to curtailing all communications stating: “We’ll all be out of business, we’ll all stop talking. Everybody’s offended all the time, from the Fighting Irish to the Redskins. Everyone’s offended.”
The View’s cohost Whoopi Goldberg would have none of Cain’s logic and shot back: “Let me tell you why. America has… a history of utilizing words to harm people and hurt people, and the people who have been on the other side of it I think are at the point where they’re saying, this is not OK anymore.”
Ms. Goldberg’s view is not only devoid of logic, but also is incompatible with the Constitution. Free speech, even that which is offensive, is a cornerstone of Americans’ constitutional rights. Going down the slippery slope of stripping rights away can only lead to very bad endings for the weakest in American society.
Even more outrageous than Goldberg’s opinion is the attack she then laid incredibly on Cain after he presented his argument stating: “That is spoken like a true white guy.” Well Ms. Goldberg, many of us find your comment racist and hurtful. But those who believe in the Constitution back your right to not only make such outrageous statements, but to also make a good living on them.
