Washington Post Again Calls Obama on a Lie

The President is at it again making a mockery out of truth. This week the Washington Post again gave Obama “four Pinocchio’s” for lying. During a fundraiser in California this week for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the President falsely accused Republicans of filibustering about 500 pieces of legislation stating:
“Here’s what’s more disconcerting; their willingness to say no to everything – the fact that since 2007, they have filibustered about 500 pieces of legislation that would help the middle class just gives you a sense of how opposed they are to any progress – has actually led to an increase in cynicism and discouragement among the people who were counting on us to fight for them”.
This is typical Obama exhibiting partisan politics at its worst. The Post went on to say: “On just about every level, this claim is ridiculous,” adding, “Looking at the numbers, he might have been able to make a case that Republicans have blocked about 50 bills that he had wanted passed, such as an increase in the minimum wage.” Adding insult to injury, the Post pointed out that Obama even included in his false number filibusters that he and his Democratic allies voted for prior to Obama becoming president.
Certainly presidents from both parties prior to Obama have exhibited challenges with the truth. However, few have taken it to the level of this President who often begins false pronouncements with strong qualifiers such as “the fact”, or emphatic closing statements such as “period”. This raises the question as to whether the Obama is purposely misleading the American people or if he is merely out of touch with facts. It also raises question as to what happened hope, change, and transparency.
