Obama Critic D’Souza Indicted by Feds

In 2013 conservative Dinesh D’Souza made the documentary “2016: Obama’s America” that was highly critical of Barack Obama. The movie grossed $33 million at the box office, became one of the most popular documentaries in American history.
Yesterday federal prosecutors brought charges against D’Souza claiming he violated campaign finance laws. While this Blog cannot determine D’Souza’s innocence or guilt, we are troubled by the fact that the charges relate to the Fed’s claim that he donated $20,000 in illegal contribution in a 2012 New York senatorial race.
This trivial amount of the supposed D’Souza infraction makes the legitimacy of the indictment suspect. Add in this the IRS’s targeting of conservative political groups and more recently New York Gov. Cuomo’s statement that conservatives have no place in New York State and you have the beginning of a potentially very scary scenario.
Currently, New Jersey’s Republican Gov. Christie is being castigated for supposedly playing hardball politics with local politicians within the state. The mainstream media acts surprised at behavior that is likely the norm in most states throughout the country. However, when it comes to the much more troubling IRS scandal that is the responsibility of a Democratic administration, the press has become silent. Abuse of power and a bias press have become the norm in the United States.
