Progressives Refuse to Take Responsibility for Obamacare Rollout Fiasco
Posted by Steve Markowitz on October 26, 2013
There is no argument that the rollout of Obamacare has been a dismal failure. Its important website required to act as a portal for those seeking medical coverage through the exchanges does not work. This website cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars to produce. Now the Administration indicates it will take at least five additional weeks to fix it. Whether this is possible remains to be seen. Given the 3.5 years the Administration has had to prepare for the rollout brings us into question.
Remarkably, while all agree that expensive website has been a failure, the Washington politicos responsible for this mess refused to hold anyone responsible for the boondoggle. This is one reason why this Blog and many others do not believe that government is the solution for complex problems. Without responsibility and the related fear that employees will be held accountable for failed behavior, it is impossible for a large organization to successfully obtain complex goals.
Below is an exchange on Friday between Fox News’ Megyn Kelly and Ezekiel Emanuel, currently a provost at the University of Pennsylvania and one of the architects of Obamacare. Emanuel is not only defensive, but refuses to hold anyone accountable for the failed implementation of Obamacare. This is pure Progressivism at its worst. His only answer is to spend more taxpayer money fixing problems that he and his associates created.
