Judith Miller Blasts Obama Administration’s Attack on Press

Posted by Steve Markowitz on June 10, 2013

Judith_MillerJudith Miller is a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist who recently spoke at the Konrad Adenauer Conference Center during a lecture titled “Preserving Freedom of the Press“.  This respected journalist was clear on her concerns relating to the Obama Administration’s attack on the press with comments that included:

  • Investigative reporting is dangerous and hasn’t been as bad as it is now with the Obama administration since Watergate.  Obama has the worst record of civil liberties of any president since Nixon.”
  • Miller accused the US Justice Department’s “systematic targeting” the Associated Press, Fox News’ James Rosen and WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange with the Espionage Act therefore “criminalizing news gathering.”
  • Am I worried about what is going on in America?  Yes.  We have a president who is doing terrible things in the name of ‘national security.'”
  • I have particular fury over what happened to James Rosen.  The Espionage Act has been used six times by Obama – he has used this act to criminalize reporting more than any other president in history and [he] gets away with it because he is Tyrannya Democrat and African-American, which we’re proud of.”

While many Americans were rightfully concerned when Richard Nixon attacked the press for political gain, the pass given to Obama is downright scary.  The risk of tyranny from the Left increases with the mainstream media’s and public’s ambivalence on this issue.
