IRS Wasting Taxpayer Money on Lavish Conferences

Posted by Steve Markowitz on June 2, 2013

The Wall Street Journal reported on yet another abuse by the IRS (Internal Revenue Service).  According to the Journal, the US Treasury Department will release a report this week that reviews IRS spending of $50 million on 200 employee conferences from 2010 through 2012. The acting IRS Commissioner has called this spending “inappropriate”.

The IRS, like most government agencies, is out-of-control.  With similar motivations to the greed exhibited on Wall Street, IRS employees spend the People’s money on their own well-being and to further their agendas and political narratives.  However, the nearly unlimited power included within this agency makes its actions even more dangerous.

The IRS scandals will continue to grow as whistle-blowers and those given immunity begin to talk.  It is time to implement a fair tax system that would negate the need for this corrupt agency that now employs nearly 100,000.
