Survivor of Texas Massacre Speaks Out About Gun Control

Posted by Steve Markowitz on February 15, 2013

Since the tragic shootings at the Connecticut school, the Left has used the massacre to further their agenda of removing guns from Americans.  Guns are but a convenient tool for those who want to kill their fellow man.  However, if Nicole Simpson or Ron Goldman had had such a tool for defense, they might not have been murdered by the more powerful O.J. Simpson who used a knife.  This second half of the gun debate is rarely mentioned by the Left or mainstream media.

This week another victim of a violent crime testified in for Congress as to why she has become an advocate for gun ownership rights.  In 1991 Suzanna Hupp joined her parents in a Texas cafeteria for a meal.  Their timing was unfortunate.  Shortly thereafter a man drove a truck into the cafeteria and began shooting innocent people.  After Hupp and her parents ducked for cover behind a table, she went to her purse to locate her handgun only to realize she left it in her car due to a Texas law making it a felony under some circumstances to carry a gun in a purse.

Dr. Hupp’s father then rushed the perpetrator, only to be shot dead.  While she escaped, Hupp’s mother stayed with her dying father and was also shot dead, along with 21 other victims.

Dr. Hupp understands who her enemy was and testified: “Honestly, I don’t view myself as a victim of gun violence.  I view myself as a victim of a maniac who happened to use a gun as a tool, and I view myself as a victim of the legislators at the time who left me defenseless.”  She also stated: “Honestly, I don’t view myself as a victim of gun violence.  I view myself as a victim of a maniac who happened to use a gun as a tool, and I view myself as a victim of the legislators at the time who left me defenseless.

Finally, Dr. Hupp educated the Congress on the Second Amendment explaining that did not give citizens the right to own guns for hunting or recreation.  That Amendment’s purpose is to protect citizens from the tyranny of government.  Her gripping videoed testimony is included below.
