Maria Bartiromo Publically Spanks Senator Cardin

Posted by Steve Markowitz on December 23, 2012

When elected officials are interviewed by the mainstream media, the results typically are talking points from the politicos with softball questions from the interviewer, especially if the politician is from the Left.  Only half of that equation existed when CNBC’s Maria Bartiromo interviewed Maryland’s Democratic Senator Ben Cardin.

The interview got feisty when Bartiromo went on the offensive asking the Senator about the Fiscal Cliff:

  • “Are you guys incompetent, or what?”
  • “I mean, if you can’t do this, if you can’t do what the American people pay you to do, why don’t you just step aside and put somebody in there who can actually get a deal done?”
  • “So how come you’re not moving forward?  What’s the problem?  Because the American people are so tired of this, and they are really tired of the lawmakers thinking that the American people are stupid.  You can’t keep coming on the show every week saying the same thing– ‘it’s not a balanced approach.’”

The video below would be humorous if the subject wasn’t so serious.  The so-called Fiscal Cliff is a creation of the politicians in Washington who have not been able to come up with a budget in nearly two years.  As Bartiromo so correctly said: “…if you can’t do what the American people pay you to do, why don’t you just step aside and put somebody in there who can actually get a deal done?”
