Election Won’t Change Washington’s Dysfunctional Nature

Posted by Steve Markowitz on November 6, 2012

As we head into this evening, the excitement increases concerning who will win the election, Barack Obama or Mitt Romney.  Blog reader Henry sent in this YouTube video that should temper any enthusiasm.  It shows Senator Rand Paul chastising the Senate for voting on a bill that no senator could have read, a vote that breaks the Senate’s own rules.

The dysfunction in Washington is a complex issue that can only be addressed with simple solutions.  This will require term limits for congressmen and senators.  In addition, the Congress must be limited to spending no more money than it brings in annually through taxes.  These two steps will significantly reduce the power grab and corruption that has afflicted both political parties.
