Obama Has Time for “The View” But not World Leaders

Posted by Steve Markowitz on September 24, 2012

It was reported last week that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu requested a meeting with President Obama when both would be in New York to discuss the Iranian nuclear crisis.  The President refused Netanyahu’s request indicating that his schedule would not allow for it.  During the same period Obama accepted an invitation to be on The David Letterman Show.

Not only did Obama shun Israeli Prime Minister, but he also avoided meeting with any of the world leaders in New York to attend this week’s UN conference.  However, today the President and First Lady found time from their busy schedules to show up on the TV show, The View.

This President’s actions are becoming pathetic.  His conduit to speaking with the American people is focused through friendly media shows.  Obama is avoiding the tough questions that may come from real and unbiased reporters.  He is also uncomfortable without the aid of the Teleprompter.

Some Obama surrogates have not been able to avoid the obvious questions arising from the President’s avoidance of meeting with foreign leaders while hitting the talk show circuit.  On Sunday, Obama campaign adviser Robert Gibbs was forced to defend the President in response to questions from Fox News reporter, Chris Wallace, with the following exchange (video posted below):

Wallace – “You say that he’s got schedules, that foreign leaders have schedules.  He has time for Whoopi Goldberg but he doesn’t have time for world leaders?

Gibbs – “Chris, they have telephones in the White House.  Last week, he talked to the president of Egypt.  He talked to the leader in Libya.  We don’t need a meeting in Washington just to confer with leaders.  We’ve got a strong —

Wallace –  “But he does need the time to be on ‘The View’?

Yikes!  What an amateur.
