Obama Skips Important Intel Briefings

Posted by Steve Markowitz on September 16, 2012

According to Washington Post columnist Marc A. Thiessen, President Obama has been AWOL from White House intelligence briefings during the current Middle East crisis.  Last week American embassies in Cairo and Benghazi were attacked with four Americans including the Libyan ambassador being murdered in Libya.  This was just the beginning of the crisis with anti-American sentiment deteriorating throughout the Middle East and other Muslim majority countries.

Thiessen wrote in his Washington Post op-ed that “the president was scheduled to hold the intelligence meeting at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, the day after the attacks, but it was canceled so that he could comfort grieving employees at the State Department — as well he should.”  At the same time, Thiessen correctly noted that the events did not hinder President from the attending a fundraiser and campaign speech in Las Vegas during that same time period.  Given the severity of the unfolding international crisis, Obama is acting very un-presidential.

As Blog reader Jim Mahoney said of this issue: “Imagine if a Republican had done this?

What continues to amaze me is that while the president is given a “pass” on this by the media and his supporters; Mr. Romney is being crucified in the media for his “comments” on the Mid-East situation.

Paula, this should no longer amaze you. The press has become an open partner of the Democrat Party. It is not only a pity, but very dangerous. Steve
