Virginia State Senator Louise Lucas Plays Race Card

Posted by Steve Markowitz on July 24, 2012

It has been a hallmark of the Left to make excuses for the failed policies of President Barack Obama.  These excuses often blame President Bush, the bad state of the inherited economy, the Republican Congress, and yes racism.  None hold water.  After nearly 4 years, the economy is a mess and foreign policy is in disarray.

While blaming others for failed policies is used by both political parties, the Democrats have a particularly strong weapon in their arsenal, i.e. the accusation of racism.  Racism is often claimed when spending cuts are suggested or if a politician who happens to be a person of color is being opposed.  Such is the case recently in Virginia.

This past spring President Obama held an eight point polling lead over Mitt Romney.  In a recently completed Quinnipiac poll that lead is been erased with current polling showing a virtual tie between Obama and Romney.

Virginia Obama campaign spokeswoman, State Senator Louise Lucas, during a radio interview when asked about Obama’s changing fortunes in the state.  While at first Ms. Lucas blamed the summer holidays for the poll numbers, she rather quickly brought out the Left’s attack weapon, claiming racism was behind the president’s changing fortunes in Virginia stating:

Mitt Romney he’s speaking to a … segment of the population who does not like to see people other than a white man in the White House or any other elected position.  Let’s be real clear about it.  We know what’s going on here, and some people may be afraid to say it, but I’m not. I’m not afraid to say it.  … .”

“I absolutely believe it is all about race and for the the first time in my life I’ve been able to convince my children finally that racism is alive and well … . All across this nation, and especially in Virginia.”

Senator Lucas has proven to be a poster child for the racist Left.  She ended her diatribe by stating: “Intelligent people understand that.”  This is another lesson she learned from her Leftist allies.  Any who disagree with their position cannot be intelligent.  Another example of the civility in politics preached by Barack Obama.

I would like to know why Ms Lucas doesn’t stop to think that conservative minded people dislike Obama because of his very left policies. It takes a very narrow minded person to always play the race card.

and I’m with you all the way it is definitely about race,it has always been about race, and what they decided in washington
was he may have won the election, but if we don’t cooperate with him he will surly fail he got a mess when he was elected and everybody fail to see he did not cause this mess and if anybody thinks that it is not about race they are nuts oh by the way even some whites know this is true, how many presidents do you know had someone come up and shake thier finger in thier face he is good

I agree with Terri, this is not about race, it’s about Obama’s failed policies.

The most serious problems facing this Country are its bad economics and debt. We are heading towards bankruptcy and Obama solution is to spend more money that we do not have by robbing from future generations. Insinuating that this is a race problem is a deflection that does not benefit the required problem resolution.

MS. LUCAS IS SAYING WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING FROM THE BEGINNING. THAT IS WHY THE REPUBLICANS
HAVE NOT WORKED W/THE PRESIDENT FROM THE START. INFACT, ONE REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMAN SAID WHEN
THE PRESIDENT FIRST WON THE ELECTION, “HE WILL BE A ONE TERM PRESIDENT AND WE ARE GOING TO HELP
HIM”. AT THAT EARLY STAGE IN THE GAME THEY DIDN’T HAVE A CLUE WHAT HE WOULD OR WOULD NOT TOO.
THAT WAS SAID BECAUSE HE IS A BLACK PRESIDENT, AND BRILLIANT ONE I MIGHT ADD.

You are about as intelligent as Ms Lucas. Stop spreading lies and hurting this country. Of course the republicans had an idea what he was going to be like in office. Let me count the ways. #1, no executive experience whatsoever. #2, the most liberal senator according to voting record. #3, the comment, ” I want to spread the wealth around”. #4, republicans will always want a democratic president to be a one termer and like wise, democrats will always want a republican president to be a one termer. Yall need to get over the race thing. This is about the content of his character, not the color of his skin. Grow up.

Thank you for sharing your opinion. This Blog, however, respectfully disagrees with your conclusions.

    1. First, you state “That is why the Republicans have not worked from the start w/the president”. However, Republicans have not worked with Democrat presidents since before the first black president was elected. Have you forgotten how nasty they were to Bill Clinton? Conversely, Democrats have not cooperated with Republican presidents. F or example, when the Black Caucus disagreed on nearly every issue with George W. Bush, it was not because he was white, but merely Washington politics as usual. Both the Left and a Right are out for self-interest to the detriment of the Country. To blame such politics on racism obfuscates the real issues.

    2. As for the President being “brilliant”, while that may be the case, it does not make him a good president. Rather than discussing IQ, it might be more productive to discuss his policies and how they affect the Country. Should most Americans like those policies, Obama will be reelected. Should they not, he will be a one term president. That is the criteria most Americans will use.

I’d say that applies to most of what represents us on Capital Hill…
