Morgan Freeman Claims Barack Obama is not Black

Posted by Steve Markowitz on July 7, 2012

While interviewed on NPR’s Tell Me More this week, actor Morgan Freeman said that he did not believe Barack Obama was the first black American president stating:

“They just conveniently forget that Barack had a mama, and she was white – very white American, Kansas, middle America.  There was no argument about who he is or what he is.  America’s first black president hasn’t arisen yet.  He’s not America’s first black president – he’s America’s first mixed-race president.”

Progresses audacity is unbelievable.  After first dividing Americans into blacks and whites, haves and have-nots, gays and straights, they now are into a subdividing strategy.

Earlier this year we were told that George Zimmerman was not Hispanic, but a “white Hispanic”.  Now Freeman claims that Obama is not black, but of “mixed–race”.  Given Freeman’s new definition, there are few Americans of color who would be considered black including the actor himself. This logic brings into question the affirmative action programs that continue to be pursued by Leftist.

Is convenient for Morgan Freeman to create a changing definition for what is a black American.  After claiming Obama did not fit his definition, he then told the NPR interviewer that “all of the people who are setting up this barrier for him” and “he is being purposely, purposely thwarted by the Republican Party, who started out at the beginning of his tenure by saying, ‘We are going to do whatever is necessary to make sure that he only has one term‘”. Here, Freeman claims Obama is being treated unfairly, raising the specter of race.  This is Progressive logic in a continuous do-loop.

Besides needing a course in logic, Freeman would do well to receive one in politics.  No matter what the color of a president’s skin, or the definition of his race, the opposing party will always be out to get him or her.  That reality, Mr. Freeman, is why Libertarians put little faith in government programs or the motivations behind them.

There is a strong possibility that Morgan is not “Black” either. This game of saying who’s what is just one of many outcomes of the institution of racism and the results of society based on “plutocracy”. Both whites and “blacks” are in a profound state of confusion with the latter not knowing what to call themselves from one era to another in this country. It’s sad to see that Morgan is unaware of the concept of the “One Drop” rule in the U.S. where anyone with at most one black ancestor is considered black according to the definition of those who prescribe to racism. Though I am of mixed ancestry and I love the mixture in my blood, I prefer to think of myself as a black person. I would hope that those around me would acknowledge me as a black person.

I meant “pigmentocracy” and not “plutocracy”

Hi Aaron. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.

Given your comments, I am sure that we would agree on a many issues, including the one you raised.

To me it is rather remarkable that many on the Left want to define a person by some characteristic outside that person’s control. I for one would rather follow Dr. King and judge people by their character, an idea that is under all of our control. But then again that would put many who make a living out of categorizing individuals and dictating their needs less well-off financially.

      Thanks again for writing.

If we are to subscribe to Morgan Freeman’s definition of “RACE”; then I would dare to say that the majority of us are of “Mixed Race”. Who among can claim a pure line geneology? When Italian came through Ellis Island, they were classified as “White” if they came from Northern Italy. If they came from Southern Italy, they were classified as “Mixed Race”. Perhpas it is time to do away with “Race” labels altogether.

      Paula,

You’re entirely correct. We need to eliminate the race label that is being perpetuated on society by liberals and only judge people on their merits and character.
