U.N. Pulls Out of Syria

A few months ago United Nations initiated two feeble steps.  It appointed Kofi Annan to negotiate a truce between the factions without success.  In addition it sent approximately 300 unarmed observers to Syria to supervise a suppose it cease-fire.  Both missions failed with the Associated Press reporting that the United Nations is now pulling its observers from Syria due to the increasing violence.

The ongoing killings in Syria again show the uselessness of the United Nations.  This corrupt organization does little to promote world peace, but instead mainly acts as a propaganda tool for the world’s despots.  In addition, it enriches the diplomats who work for this social industry.

The Syrian debacle is also a showcase for President Obama’s decision for America to lead from behind.  When the mess in Syria is finally sorted out with dictator Assad being thrown out, it is likely that the Syrian people will exact revenge on those responsible for the massacres, adding to the misery in that country.  It is also likely that they will question why so many countries stood by and allowed the massacres to occur.

Given that Assad and his cronies will face war crimes charges when they lose power in Syria, they have no choice but to fight it out to the end and this will result in significant more deaths before the carnage is over.  Given this, the United Nations’ attempt to use negotiations to end the fighting is indication of the organization’s stupidity or detachment from reality
