Leftists Use Political Correctness to Degrade Soldiers’ Sacrifices on Memorial Day

Posted by Steve Markowitz on May 28, 2012

How America has changed the way it views its soldiers.  While there has always been healthy debate as to whether America’s going to war was justified or not, until the Vietnam War the soldiers forced to fight those wars were always looked on as heroes.  Beginning with the spoiled young baby boomers in the late 1960s, the soldiers became the victims of scorn.  Returning Vietnam vets were often treated atrociously, sometimes referred to as “baby killers” or spat upon.

Celebrating this Memorial Day, ultra-leftist network MSNBC took the appropriate treatment of America’s servicemen to a new low.  One of its radical Leftist commentators, Chris Hayes, stuttering his way through on objection to referring to fallen soldiers as “heroes”, Hayes said the following:

“I feel uncomfortable about the word ‘hero’ because it seems to me that it is so rhetorically proximate to justifications for more war.  Um, and, I don’t want to obviously desecrate or disrespect memory of anyone that’s fallen, and obviously there are individual circumstances in which there is genuine, tremendous heroism, you know, hail of gunfire, rescuing fellow soldiers, and things like that.  But it seems to me that we marshal this word in a way that is problematic. But maybe I’m wrong about that…”

For the above rant, Hayes has once again proven himself to be a knucklehead.  Don’t like the war in Iraq?  Then blame Bush and the Congress for authorizing it.  Don’t like the war in Afghanistan?  Blame Bush and Obama for starting and continuing it respectively.  However, to intellectually assassinate those who paid the ultimate price in these wars is unconscionable.  It shows how far the Left has fallen from any sense of morality.

Chris Hayes’s view of America as shown in the video below is similar to many on the Left including the current commander-in-chief.  To them America is the problem.  It is ironic that these intellectual elitists are often well-to-do and part of the 1%.  It is terrifying that this group are educating the next generation of Americans.  That in itself makes a good argument for eliminating all government subsidies of higher education.
