Maddow Caught Playing Gender Card

Posted by Steve Markowitz on April 30, 2012

The Left never tires from pitting Americans against Americans.  If it’s not black against white, it’s rich versus poor.  The possibilities are nearly endless and include sexual orientation, religious beliefs and gender.

On Sunday’s Meet the Press, MSNBCs Leftist agitator Rachel Maddow took to gender baiting, throwing out the claim that American women currently earn only $.77 for every dollar their male counterpart make for the same jobs.

Also on the panel was Republican Alex Castellanos who took Maddow to task for the claim with the following interesting interchange:

Maddow:  Women in this country still make 77 cents on the dollar for what men make.  So if —

Castellanos:  Not exactly.

Maddow:  Women don’t make less than men?

Castellanos:  Actually, if you start looking at the numbers, Rachel, there are lots of reasons for that.

Maddow:  Wait, wait.  No.

Castellanos:  Well, first of all, we —

Maddow:  Don’t tell me what the reasons are.  Do women make less than men for the ……. ?

Maddow’s response is very telling relating to not wanting to know “the reasons “.  Translation; don’t confuse me with a facts, a favorite battle cry of the Left.

Castellanos persisted and pointed out that “men work an average of 44 hours a week.  Women work 41 hours a week.  Men go into professions like engineering, science and math that earn more.  Women want more flexibility.”  He further debunked Maddow’s claim with the fact that single American working women between the ages of 40 and 64 make more than male counterparts.  Male’s in this group have an average income of $40,000 annually while women make $47,000.  Removing marriage from the equation leads to facts that do not meet Maddow’s desired conclusion.  But then again, radical Leftists like Maddow seek to eliminate marriage from society as well.

It is ironic that the Left, who so often rails about the greed of capitalists, can claim to believe that this bunch would hire males that cost 23% more than female workers.  As Castellanos correctly told Maddow, should her numbers be correct, then the “greedy businessman in America would hire only women, save 25% and be hugely profitable.”

Ms. Maddow is intelligent and educated, a person who clearly understands that her numbers and logic are flawed.  But like many radicals on the left, she will not let the facts get in the way of political goals, or for that matter making profit.
