Obama’s Frequent Vacations Questioned

Posted by Steve Markowitz on April 13, 2012

President Obama typically receives softball questions from his friends in the mainstream media.  It seems his staff got a bit sloppy when they invited reporter Larry Conners from KMOV-TV St. Louis to interview the President.  During the interview, Conners questioned the President on the First Family’s frequent and expensive vacationing when so many Americans are suffering due to the challenging economy.  The response in the video and text below is pure Obama, totally lacking substance.

Few Americans would question the First Family’s vacations, even those that are outrageously expensive.  It is, however, disingenuous for this president who so often attacks “millionaires and billionaires” to live just like those he attacks.

Conners – “The economy is a big issue and concern for folks. I mean, the unemployment, trying to make ends meet, gas prices, food prices going up. Some of our viewers are complaining, they get frustrated, even angered, when they see the first family jetting around, different vacations and so forth, sometimes maybe they think under color of state business and that you’re out of touch, that you don’t really know what they’re experiencing right now.”

President Obama“Well, I don’t know how many viewers you’re talking about that say that.”

Conners – “We do hear from some.”

President Obama “I hear from all kinds of viewers about everything.”

“But the fact of the matter is, I think if you look at my track record, I’m raising a family here.  When we travel, we got to travel through Secret Service, and Air Force One, that’s not my choice. I think most folks understand how hard I work and how hard this administration is working on behalf of the American people.”

One Response to “Obama’s Frequent Vacations Questioned”

He has taken 17 vacations since he took office, an average of one vacation every 2.3 months. Add in the over 80 rounds of golf he has played and you have to ask when does he actually work?
