North Carolina School Interferes with Parent’s Food Choice

Posted by Steve Markowitz on February 15, 2012

In a remarkable display of Progressive government’s interference with parental rights, a North Carolina school stopped a four-year-old child from eating a perfectly healthy lunch packed by her mother.  The story below reported yesterday by Fox News might seem humorous if not a part of a massive overreach at all levels of government.  As blog reader Jim Mahoney said when forwarding in this story; “Can someone queue the Twilight Zone Theme song.”

Governmental infringement on individual rights in the United States is expanding exponentially.  While some attribute this to a conspiracy on the Left, it is a broader problem.  As government programs are created, even those with good intentions, they become self-perpetuating.  The created agencies attempt to grow and increase power, just as companies and individuals do in the private sector.  However, the government has unique legal powers that make its growth more dangerous.

President Dwight Eisenhower warned the United States of the dangers presented by the growth of the military-industrial complex during the Cold War.  Today, it is a governmental-social worker complex that has become the power and the new danger.  Government workers have created a symbiotic relationship with an industry of social workers and similar “professionals” that are collecting an ever-increasing slice of the economic pie.  While this group’s standard of living has increased, those they supposedly serve are mired in growing poverty and increased social problems.  Still, Progressives suggest increased spending for this group.  This clearly falls within the definition of insanity.
