Another Gaffe: Obama Says America Built Intercontinental Railroad

Posted by smarko1 on September 23, 2011

President Obama today added another gaffe to his growing repertoire unusual and incorrect public statements.  Los Angeles Times commentator Andrew Malcolm reported that in a trip to Ohio to tout his new jobs program, the President stated that “We’re the country that built the Intercontinental Railroad“.  Oh-boy!

Let us hope that the President merely made a slip of the tongue and actually understands that an Intercontinental Railroad is physically impossible.  At the same time, aiding this to his many previous gaffes that include the claim that he visited 57 states, claiming that there is an Austrian language, that Lincoln founded the Republican Party, there is a president of Canada or a Navy corpseman, raises questions about some of the President’s skills.

The Left and the mainstream media are often quick to question the intellectual skills of conservative politicians, especially if they are attractive women.  How many more significant misstatements will it take before they start judging Barack Obama by this same standard?
